1. What is a cookie?
"Cookies" are text files that a website transfers to a user's browser during a visit. They correspond to a user-specific information sheet, which the website recognizes the next time the user visits the site.
There are several types of cookies, those used by the website that sets the cookie and those sent by third parties for advertising or audience analysis purposes, internal and external cookies.
A cookie does not necessarily contain your name or email address, it is more the identity card of your browser, which records your use of the website to facilitate your use. They therefore allow the website to function properly.
We distinguish two types of cookies: those placed by us, called "first party" cookies are essential or functional; and those placed by third parties, called "third party" cookies are linked to audience analysis or social networks.
2.1. First-party cookies
Some cookies are essential and necessary for the proper functioning of a website. In our case:
- Cookies related to the setting of cookies, which allow the website to store your cookie preferences on this website.
- Persistent cookies to customize the user interface such as language choice.
This type of cookie facilitates your browsing and only the Epicentre site is authorized to recognize and "read" them. By definition, these cookies cannot be disabled.
Other cookies are called "functional" and have the role of improving your navigation on the website.
By disabling these cookies, you will not be able to access all the services we offer you. Disabling them may cause these services to malfunction.
Cookies for audience analysis
Audience analysis cookies allow us to improve the user experience. We use services such as Google Analytics to understand how our visitors get to and use the site. The service, Google Analytics, deposits audience analysis cookies on behalf of epicentre.msf.org.
If you do not allow these cookies, our ability to improve your user experience will be very limited.
2.2. Third party cookies
These cookies are stored by third party sites, partners of the Epicentre site. They can be essential or functional for the service they offer or for audience measurement. You will be able to find cookies placed by Facebook, Twitter or Google for their respective social networks.
Disabling these cookies limits your use of these services (sharing information on social networks).
3. How to make your choices, depending on the browser you use?
For the management of cookies and your choices, the configuration of each browser is different. It is described in the help menu of your browser, which will allow you to find out how to change your cookie preferences.
