Biography
With a pharmacist background and a Master's degree in environmental and health research, Etienne turned to humanitarian work when he finished his studies. After field experience in Haiti, Ecuador and Paris hospitals, he joined Solthis in 2007, where he spent 16 years. He held several positions and worked on various subjects, particularly care models and people-centred approaches.
He joined MSF in May 2023 as a part-time referent on therapeutic patient education, then full-time in early 2024, combining a referent position (on Patient Support, Therapeutic Education and Counseling) with a PhD research project on the involvement of peer helpers or patient experts in humanitarian contexts, as part of a collaboration between MSF and the patient engagement chair of the Education and Health Promotion Laboratory at Sorbonne Paris Nord University.
