Biography
Philippe Barboza is currently the team lead of the cholera program of the World Health Organization (WHO) Health Emergencies Program (WHE) in Geneva, as well as the head of the secretariat of the Global Task Force on Cholera Control (GTFCC). Prior to leading the cholera program, Philippe was responsible for the detection, verification and global risk assessment of acute public health events. Before joining, the WHO Philippe, he was Director of the International Department of the French Institute of Public Health; he also has more than 15 years of experience in the field of emergencies, surveillance and control of infectious diseases in countries with limited resources, from Africa, the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, with Médecins Sans Frontières, Epicentre and WHO. Philippe holds a PhD in epidemiology and biomedical information sciences from Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris, France and an MPH from the University of Liverpool, UK.
