Valérie Briand, MD, PhD, is a medical epidemiologist whose main expertise is on maternal and child health, with a focus on malaria in pregnant women and children in Africa. She has coordinated and participated in several longitudinal studies to document the epidemiology of malaria in pregnancy (MiP) and during infancy, as well as randomized clinical trials for the prevention of MiP. Her recent interest and activities focus on evaluating the implementation of (integrated) malaria prevention strategies in pregnant women and infants. Since February 2023 she has joined EPICENTRE/MSF as the head of its Department of Research.
