Short course in responding to epidemics

Epicentre conducted a 4-training for 21 MSF staff from the Phillipines, Belgium, Hong-Kong, and Australia. The course taught participants how to carry out emergency analyses in a context where authorities are reluctant to declare a state of emergency. In these situations it is nevertheless important to define health priorities.

The course taught how to carry out outbreak investigations and how to define strategies to effectively manage epidemics as well as how to asses the nutritional status of the population. Finally the course emphasized how findings can best be summarized and communicated with partners, so that they can be translated into relevant public health and operational decisions.

Epicentre regularly conducts trainings in 'Response to Epidemics' in Europe, Africa, and Asia. These trainings are tailored to the professional needs of the participants.
