Accreditation of the PSP by the LSTM as an optional module for MSF master’s degree
The Populations in Precarious Situation (PSP) training course developed and implemented by Epicentre since 1986, is designed to prepare participants to respond to emergency medical care during humanitarian situations: assess the needs of a population at risk (basic medical care, prevention and control of epidemics, drinking water supply, hygiene, shelter, food, security) define intervention strategies adapted to health problems, plan the implementation of programme activities and monitor the health status of this population.
This training has just been validated as an optional module within a general programme developed by the LEAP (Leadership Education Academic Partnership) which is a program designed for managers of Médecins Sans Frontières. It is the result of a collaboration between MSF, the LSTM (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine), and the University of Manchester. It will enable MSF staff to receive appropriate, flexible, in-person and distant academic training, compatible with work in the field or at the association's headquarters. Depending on the chosen course, it will lead to the validation of a Master's degree or a Postgraduate Diploma in Humanitarian Practice.
