Epicentre, with the support of the MSF Foundation, is coordinating the Malawi site of the PAVE international study by the National Cancer Institute (NCI - USA), which is evaluating a new two-stage cervical cancer screening strategy: firstly, the identification of women infected with the HPV virus, responsible for 95% of these cancers, and then, using Artificial Intelligence (AI), the identification of women with precancerous lesions who are then treated. The CONTACT (COmmunity iNtervention for Tuberculosis Active Contact Tracing and preventive therapy) study has just highlighted, in two publications published on 31 October in Lancet Global Health, the effectiveness and health economical impact of community-based intervention for household child contact management. The study, led by the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), was performed in Cameroon in collaboration with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) and in Uganda with Epicentre and National Tuberculosis Programs of both countries. It introduces innovative models of care to address the diagnostic and prevention gaps in children affected by or exposed to Tuberculosis.
