A study coordinated by Epicentre in collaboration with Barcelona's Hospital del Mar and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Spain, shows that thoracic ultrasound can quickly and easily identify patients with pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection at risk of an unfavorable outcome. In addition, this diagnostic approach, thanks to appropriate training and access to portable ultrasound scanners, is proving particularly useful in resource-limited countries, where it can be performed as point-of-care.

A new survey carried out by Epicentre among displaced people in four camps around Goma in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), shows alarming rates of violence, particularly sexual violence, continuing daily in and around the camps. More than one in 10 young women report having been raped in the period covered by the survey, November 2023 - April 2024.
